While Spring Cleaning gets all of the headlines, we love creating space for a little extra cleaning towards the beginning of the school year. As fall approaches and the festivities of summer slow down, now is a great time to get to work and get organized- but with a twist!

Astrology has always been a guiding principle in our lives here at SST, admittedly now more than ever. Our thought process is, if you find value in something (such as astrology) then it has meaning to you and that makes it important. I personally use my sign as a way to better understand myself, my relationships, my feelings, and my decisions, but why not use it as a tool for organization?

Below, I have listed each astrological sign along with tools, tips, and advice to get organized based on your unique characteristics. Cleaning is always more fun with a friend, so feel free to share this article with your favorite Leo or Taurus (or any other favorite sign) and get to work!

The Best Way to Organize Your Home, According to Your Zodiac

Capricorn

(December 22 to January 19)

As a patient and detail-oriented sign, organizing is a very important part of well-being for you. You also tend to be very hard-working and ambitious. So when it comes to cleaning, those traits may cause you to want to organize everything and anything. Rather than overwhelm yourself with too much to do, pick just a few rooms or even a small closet to get started. Your ambitious nature will see cleaning as a game, but rather, think of it as a way to return to a stable mental state. 

Aquarius

(January 20 to February 18)

Time alone to think and recharge is very important to you, Aquarius. You may also feel that the “big picture” is a critical part of planning. So when getting your hands dirty to clean, create a plan before starting. I recommend using a blank piece of paper to write down the order of your tasks from most important to least important. Make a weekend out of cleaning and use the time to work on organizing your thoughts too. Cleaning is a great time to think through decisions, big or small! 

Pisces

(February 19 to March 20)

As a Pisces, you are driven by connections and emotion, and you are also very creative. Those traits combined means organizing can be a fun and exciting process for you! Put on some tunes, grab a few friends, and use that creative brain of yours to think up a fun strategy to get your household tasks done! Maybe you make cleaning a game or maybe you use it as a time to chat with your friends about upcoming plans. Regardless, you’ll be certain to make it a good time! 

Aries

(March 21 to April 19)

You love to be challenged, but that can take a turn when you no longer feel that push. So when it comes to organizing, do the hardest task first, take a break, and then alternate finishing the rest of your chores and taking small breaks to be active. During your breaks you could take a walk, try an online yoga class, or do some stretches. By keeping that feeling of challenge alive, it will allow you to stick through the long-haul. 

Taurus

(April 20 to May 20)

Comfort and pleasure are important you, Taurus. Having an organized living-space can be a tremendous fix for your well-being. A critical part of your cleaning process will be removing excess objects, papers, and other unnecessary clutter from your space. However, that may lead you to think and rethink about what you should get rid of versus what you should keep. Use the “does it bring me joy?” thought process popularized by Marie Kondo and rid yourself of anything you do not need – when you pick up an item, mentally consider whether or not it brings you joy and rid yourself of anything that does not. You could also have a loved one or friend help you through decluttering, although, your personal decision will be the most important. 

Gemini

(May 21 to June 20)

As a Gemini, your social time is very important to you. Put time to organize on your schedule and stick to it! You love to learn, so to make cleaning more fun and exciting, try listening to a podcast with a topic that interests you. Spotify has plenty of podcasts with a million and one themes to get you started! Be wary when organizing though, your indecisive nature can make it difficult to get rid of things or rearrange your space. Bring a friend along to help think through those decisions. 

Cancer

(June 21 to July 22)

You rely on your deep and very powerful intuition, Cancer, so you know what needs to be done and when. When taking time to organize, make sure you are in the right mood and head-space. Judge your emotions and decide when it is the best time to get to it so that you don’t feel overwhelmed. Your living space directly correlates to your feelings, so you may want to consider using the principles of feng shui to balance your space. But at the end of the day, you know when something feels right and should use your best judgment when it comes to rearranging and organizing.  

Leo

(July 23 to August 22)

You seek approval from those around you and can use that quality to simplify your process. When organizing, ask a friend to review your work and assess areas to improve upon. By making your time to clean a social hour, you will feel better about your end results. As a lover of extravagance and all things beautiful, make sure to treat yourself after all that hard work. Maybe a decorated journal, a hot bath, or a new blouse will do?

Virgo

(August 23 to September 22)

As a sign, Virgos are inherently organized. Though ruled by perfectionism, your ambition can get in the way of cleaning. Rather than spending your time organizing one task at a time, write down everything that needs to be done and put them in a random order. By moving from task to task or room to room, you won’t be able to focus on the unnecessary details, but rather, the big picture. You are also a hard worker and you love to help others, so use those organizational skills to help those you love! Though remember that a little bit of gentle kindness will go a long way. 

Libra

(September 23 to October 22)

Your natural sense for balance will be extremely important to your cleaning process. Trust your inner guide and use that as a principle for organizing. That being said, do not fall into the trap of overthinking what must be done. Grab a friend or two and make cleaning a social time where you can ask your loved ones for help with the decision making process. Communication is very important to you, so be sure to talk through the process and ask questions where you feel confused. Having people around you when you organize will leave you feeling more satisfied with the end result. 

Scorpio

(October 23 to November 21)

Scorpio, you are very resourceful! Use that trait to your advantage, especially when organizing. Think of new ways to store, clean, and organize your things- it will be a challenge that will make you think! You are also very passionate by nature. Write down everything you have to do and start with the task you are most passionate about, then continue deciding on your next task based on what you feel excited to complete. Consider using your passion to help your friends and family get organized too! 

Sagittarius

(November 22 to December 21)

You love your freedom and time outdoors, Sagittarius. With that in mind, break up your tasks over several days to avoid feeling confined or overwhelmed. Create a Clean Slate

Organizing is great for the mind, body, and soul. It allows you to have a clean slate to start and end a busy day. I try to make cleaning a part of my daily routine, but sometimes it is a weekly thing- and that is totally fine! By using astrology to guide my cleaning process, I have learned to better gauge why I notice certain trends in my messes and it’s made cleaning a lot more fun!
