As you likely know by this point, the Golden Globes were last night and kicked off the award season in style. While the celebrities weren’t incredibly risqué with their looks, I loved the classic, fresh styles that came off the red carpet. There weren’t many trends that were made over the course of the evening, but cutouts were definitely the theme for the night. Hope you guys have been working those obliques recently, because those bad boys are going to be on display in the near future!
Without much further ado… Best Dressed – Female
I was unfamiliar with Brie Larson before last night, and I love when stars make their big debuts in something classic that still has the ability to turn heads (ala Jennifer Lawrence Oscar’s 2010 when she won for Winter’s Bone in Calvin Klein Collection.) Unsurprisingly, Brie’s dress was also Calvin Klein for last night. It seems the trend is consistent, because Brie won last night for her role in Room.
Speaking of classic looks Jennifer Lawrence rocked in yet another fearless, red number. This time, her dress (with cutouts) was by Dior, with a Chopard bib choker from their “High Jewelry Collection.” Quite frankly, that necklace stole the whole show. But with 156.77 carats of diamonds set in 18kt white gold, could we expect otherwise?
It might be that I just saw her portray her husband’s Magic Mike dance on Lipsync Battle, but Jenna Dewan-Tatum can do no wrong in my eyes. This midnight blue Zuhair Murad dress was everything. Glamorous, but classy… and it had POCKETS! I did notice her fixing the straps the entire time on the red carpet, so raising the neckline a touch wouldn’t have been a bad move.
Any redhead that rocks red on the red carpet is making a bold decision, and tangerine is no different. But Amy Adams pulled off this Versace number perfectly, with simple makeup and hair. This dress was fit to perfection!
In all honesty, I rarely watch Amy Schumer’s style, but I’m loving the classic color-blocking of this Prabel Gurung dress. Simple, but incredibly sophisticated hair tops off the whole look. As do the pockets… because they exist.
On a side-note, it has finally been released that Amy is dating an old classmate of mine from high school. While we’ve known for a while, I’m incredibly happy for the two of them. Happiness looks great on you, Ben & Amy!
Best Dressed – Male
I wasn’t incredibly impressed by the bros last night, thinking that they were either plain traditional (not bad, just not stand out) or pushed the envelope a bit too far (I’m looking at you, Dwayne Johnson.) But there were two that stole the spotlight for me…
Photo: E!
While his interview on E!’s Red Carpet was incredibly awkward, Rami Malek stole the show to me in this deep navy Dior tux. Classic, with a small touch of flare for his first, major awards show. Well done!
No idea who he was wearing, but too cute not to mention. Little, 9-year-old Jacob Trembley from Room rocked the red carpet and chatted Legos and Star Wars in his interview with E! And for a good time, google “Jacob Trembley’s dad” who is slowly taking over the internet.
