When I started dating Raymond a couple of years ago, I had a similar sense of style as I do now. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, I typically sit on the “preppy” side of the fence more than anything else. I prefer to stick with classic pieces that I know will never go out of style and love traditional prints, solid colors, and pieces that can easily transition between seasons. However, Raymond is actually a little bit more of a fashionista than I am! While he absolutely has less clothing than I do, he had already curated (& still does!) an incredibly well-thought out collection of pieces that he can combine at a moment’s notice to look pulled together for work or play. Plus, he always knew which brands would work for whatever pieces he needed to bring into his repertoire.

One of the brands that he introduced to me was Barbour. To give you a bit of flavor, most of the folks that you might have seen on television working the Breeders’ Cup Classic in Keeneland were rockin’ Barbour. As you can imagine, it’s an incredibly well-made, traditional brand. You won’t see their label highlighted on many of the pieces in their collection, rather allowing their fans to organically find them through word-of-mouth.
This is a brand that I have fallen more and more in love with across the years. My first purchase was a neutral, beige version of the above coat, and it’s perfect in every type of weather. Their collections all focus on being updated classics, never venturing too far from their original designs from 1894. And that’s what I love this brand! They’ve found their traditional tartan plaid and cuts and stick with those across the years. There’s no fear that your purchase will go out of style in a few months or that it may lose its structure in the near future. You are buying an item that you can wear for decades.
