Life in My Eyes – April 2017

“Life in My Eyes” is a series that highlights my favorite things across entertainment, beauty products, and everything in between.  Enjoy! And now to April 2017 …

I have been all about the outdoors this month.  Ski season is ending strong with some amazing springtime snow, while hiking and golfing have become the thing to do near downtown Denver.

Beyond just the outdoors, downtown Denver comes to life in the sunshine.  I’ve attended and hosted some amazing social events this month, and welcomed some fantastic causes into my life that I am incredibly passionate about sharing.  Here are some of my favorites this month…

SHINE Influencer Party

I’ve posted extensively about my love of SHINE Boutique (see here and here), and I love them so much that I decided to host a party for around 35 influencers in the area so that others could fall in love with the space, as well.

We decided to open up the party to those that are influencers, in a broader sense of the term.  Bloggers, studio owners, workout instructors, photographers, and their +1s were all invited.  (Quick answer to a request: I found many of these influencers through meetup groups, facebook groups, and friends that I’ve made through Instagram.  I then also encouraged invitees to bring their friends.)

We brought in two local designers (Peach & Pepper and Jay Davis Bags), had snacks provided by three local providers (special note to Truly Yours Cupcake and The Juicing Tree), offered all-you-can-drink mimosas and bloody marys, and fun, festive conversation.  All of the businesses supported and influencers invited are incredibly empowered, powerful women.

The event provided some incredibly thought-provoking conversation, amazing connections, and so much fun.  I walked away motivated and inspired.  I can’t wait to see where these conversations go and the amazing partnerships that occur from this beautiful event.

Blume Honey Water

A couple of months ago, I heard about the Colorado launch of Blume Honey Water and I was beyond stoked to hear more.  (Note, it’s now available almost nationally in Whole Foods Stores and I even purchased one at the Baltimore airport during a connection two weeks ago!)

Blume Honey Water is a naturally energizing and hydrating beverage that tastes absolutely delicious.  Think of getting all of the benefits of coconut water, but in a drink that actually tastes really good.  The current flavors available are Vanilla Citrus, Ginger Zest, and (my personal favorite) Wild Blueberry.

Plus, for sustainability, they also build awareness on bee sustainability.  (You know, those little buggers that essentially keep much of humanity alive, but are going extinct at an alarming rate, eek!)

Blume Honey Water can be purchased online nationally or in many Whole Foods or natural stores across the nation.

Enough with the Puff

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you know that I’ve gone all in on this fantastic cause.

Back when I was a teenager, right around 18 years old, I was a social smoker.  I would casually bum cigarettes from friends and had a pack in my car that I would occasionally pull a cigarette from when things got “stressful.”  (Ahh… the stressful life of a high school senior.)

But what I didn’t realize was that occasional smoking created the same terrible effects of full on buying cigarettes each day.  Occasional smoking was NOT making me immune to those effects!

So I am now proud to partner with Enough with the Puff for the second year in a row to prevent social smoking.  Our goal is to build awareness of the terrible effects social smoking can have on your overall mind/body health, as well as prevent future social smokers from ever going that direction.

One Eleven Watches

This collection of eco friendly watches has been developed for the outdoor enthusiast in all of us.  Each watch offers a solar-powered battery (charges in both natural and artificial light), while still looking stylish and authentically “cool.”

The watch that I selected has a light brown, leather band, which looks natural enough for hiking over the summer, but not too casual for my office setting.  The face almost looks navy blue in the light, which, if you’ve been here a while you know, is my absolute favorite color.  It’s beautiful, but entirely functional and well-made.

This is a brand new company, starting in 2016, and I am so excited to watch their growth.  If the one watch that I selected is any indication, people will be wearing a One Eleven watch all across the mountains in the very near future.

Horse Scarf from The Brass Armadillo

Back in the summer, when Ray and I started decorating our mountain home, we got the suggestion to check out The Brass Armadillo just outside of Denver and I am beyond hooked.

It’s essentially an antique mall, with over 3,500 antique dealers sharing their unique finds all in one place.  It’s a little overwhelming at first, but, once you get the hang of it, it’s an incredible place.  (There are six locations across the country,.  To find out if there’s one close to you, click here.)

While we did end up purchasing a beautiful, simple, wooden cabinet and some odds and ends for decoration, I also found the beyond gorgeous silk scarf  in the second picture that I am so excited to wear everywhere.  (And for only $14!)

I typically end up using bandanas to use as a simple accessory to add a bit of flare to any outfit (similar to the first picture, via), but I anticipate this to be a simple way to dress up that look a bit for work or for events on the town.
