Taking Stock January 2017

Because it’s the last Friday of January, I thought that nothing could be more appropriate that taking a quick moment to take stock of how life is going right now.  Feel free to play along in the comments below!

Taking Stock – January 2017

Instagram posts with lots of behind-the-scenes peeks at life in Colorado (see above), my favorite simple, little life hacks, and updates from Ray sprinkled in there from time to time.  It’s taken me a while to completely fall in love with Instagram, but I can now proudly announce that I’m hooked!

At this point in the winter, I love a classic glass of Cabernet.  Right now, Ray and I love to have a good glass of Dreaming Tree Cabernet.  Before you ask, yes, this wine is made by Dave Matthews of DMB.  But yes, it is also really good.  (Personal opinion: While I love their Cabernet, their Chardonnay leaves a lot to be desired.)

If you’ve been watching my SnapChats (@Semisweettootth), you know that I have an almost unnatural obsession with the 2011 cinematic classic (according to me), Emma.  Based on the Jane Austin novel of the same name, I still cannot get enough of this film.  (For those unfamiliar with the storyline, “Clueless” was based on Emma.  So, essentially, picture “Clueless,” but with Gwyneth Paltrow and set in 1800s England.)  Also, picture the DVD costing under $10, because it does now and you can buy it here. I definitely paid more than that price, but I’m assuming my cost per watch is relatively low at this point.

Present Over Perfect: Leaving Behind Frantic for a Simpler, More Soulful Way of Living” by Shauna Niequist.  It’s a book that helps us to declutter our everyday to focus on what is truly important.  It’s already helped me to rid myself of some of my need for busyness and feelings of inadequacy.  (We all have those feelings from time to time.)

The relaxation of ski season.  I adore being able to wake up and go to bed with the sun, being active all day, and warming up with a hot cacao in front of the fire.

Working On

We’re in the exact middle of the beta test for Positively Confident.  So I’m making the videos and prepping all of the content for my big launch up ahead.  (Sign up to receive my newsletter to be kept in the loop on the next launch scheduled for late February or early March.)

This sweater from PinkBlush.  Yes, it’s a maternity sweater, but it’s also on sale for an awesome price and I wear it nonstop.  (Just size down a bit if you’re not pregnant and it will fit super cozy and cute.)

Kis Essential Oils, specifically our eucalyptus and tea tree oils.  I use them in our small Riverock Diffuseralmost daily to turn our home into a relaxing sanctuary.

Smashbox Softlight eyeshadow palette.  I rarely wear intense makeup and this palette allows for natural coloring, with a slightly-more-dramatic-than-my-typical-day-look effect.

Kind of like this is the calm before the storm.  I’ve been prepping so many new products and freebies and services that I’m SO excited about the future, but really calm about where my life is taking me.

I guess I need to watch Emma, huh? I’ve heard of it but never watched it and I didn’t know Clueless was based off of that story! I’m loving baked oatmeal on cold mornings, prenatal stretching before bed, & hot chocolate! Hope you have a great weekend!

I’m addicted to Emma, ha! If you read the classic Jane Austin novel, you’ll definitely see where Clueless came from within it’s pages. 🙂

Sounds like you have the perfect traditions for a warm, winter’s day, too!

I love this post! It’s a lot like the “quarterly check in’s” in our KIT planners. It’s great to take some time to assess where we are and how we’re feeling . I think it helps you stay present as well as in a grateful state of mind.
Very fun to read your thoughts!

Exactly! It’s such a fun “review” to do every once in a while. (And my kitlife planner is still making me happier than ever, too. :))

I love posts like this – and I love that sweater! I also am enjoying wine… really any kind I can get 🙂 And also working hard on freebies, e-products, and fitness transformations programs – exciting, but whew, wine does taste extra tasty at the end of the day!
