The Law of Attraction

The Law of Attraction is something that is relatively new to me.  I struggle with it, because it’s something that’s not tangible.  Even mantras or meditations offer something to do or say or write.  But the Law of Attraction is more of a mental game.

Since this is a year of development and learning for me, and I’ve promised to learn by your sides, then here’s where I’ve gotten thus far…

What is the Law of Attraction?

I recall, back in the day, Nicole Ritchie and Oprah were both obsessed with this one book and movie called “The Secret.”  In the book, it states, “Your thoughts are made up of energy.  And when you have positive thoughts, you attract positive experiences into your life.  When you hold negative thoughts, you attract negative experiences into your life.”

And this is, essentially, the Law of Attraction.  It is using your positive energy to manifest the positive experiences that you want into your life.

How the Law of Attraction works

According to experts on the subject, at the very core, below our cells, we are made up of energy.  And that energy attracts and multiplies to create similar energy.

Our goal is to get into a mental and physical state where we already have what we desire.  Once our system “knows” that we already have what we desire, the energy in our bodies will attract opportunities and experiences that will help us to continue living life at that level.

An example that I’m familiar with from growing up is waking up “on the wrong side of the bed.” When something goes wrong, everything across the day just seems to tumble.  Whereas, when you wake up and something amazing happens, good things just seem to naturally appear across the day.

So our goal, according to the Law of Attraction, is to manifest that good energy to get us to where we want to go.

How it’s done

Step 1) See, feel, and hear a moment that shares where you want to be 6-12 months into the future – picture it as if it’s already occurring.  Write it down, be very specific, and make sure that it’s written in the present tense.  Where are you? What do you smell? What do you see? Do you hear anything special?  Also know that the unconscious mind struggles to process negatives, so avoid saying things such as, “I am not in this role” in favor of saying “I am in a new role.”

Step 2) Release any negative emotions getting in the way.  Negative emotions have no reason to be with us in the future.  Instead, we need to work to actively, intentionally release them to allow room for the positive emotions to come through,  This is to allow ourselves to feel 100% as if we already have our goal.  If you have exactly what you’re looking for, then there wouldn’t be a need for any negative emotions, right?

Step 3) Watch for and act on opportunities that come your way.  Many people think that the Law of Attraction means that what you are hoping to achieve just magically appears.  But I tend to be in the camp, at least right now, where I think that we have to be looking for the opportunities that come our way and intentionally act on them.  Where have you been saying no in the past where you should be saying yes, or the other way around.  Keep working hard and keep your eyes open, because good opportunities will cross your path and lead you where you want to be.

Therefore, the Law of Attraction essentially involves us manifesting our own desires through positive energy and focus.

I’m so looking forward to seeing where this journey takes me and I can’t wait to share my experiences in the future.  (All updates will be shared in the email newsletter, so be sure to subscribe!)
