Fun with Fringe

While I’ve been to festivals from Lollapalooza to Hyde Park Calling to Bonnaroo, I’ve never been a big believer in “festival” style.  Yes, I would layer a tank over my bikini top or rock the occasional hair band, but that was more out of necessity than as a fashion statement – it gets hot being in the sun all day!  However, I am loving that fringe is coming back, and the only thing I can think of is that I may or may not have festival style to thank!  With the classic aesthetics and comfortable, solid shapes, I’m loving incorporating fringe in my usually classic looks in unexpected places.

This skirt, combined with a cowl-neck, backless top feels perfect for the Summer sun.  I dressed it up with my go-to Jimmy Choo Abel pumps, Francesca’s blue post earrings, and my favorite blue bandeau bralette underneath.

I’ll be honest – I was skeptical about each of the two primary items when pulling together this look.  Both the top and skirt are not my go-to classic silhouettes, and both follow trends, which I usually try to avoid.  But combined together, I love that these pieces seem to mesh incredibly well.  I feel that each piece could absolutely be used separately – top with classic denim, skirt with a tucked in, striped tee, and the entire look could absolutely work until next Fall with traditional cowboy boots rather than pumps.  However, for the dinner I was going to with girlfriends, this look was everything I needed – dressed up, but relaxed bohemian all in one.

I linked below to the actual look, but also some similar options with varying lengths and cuts for the top and skirt.
