Casual Holiday Sequins

PinkBlush sweater, BP cami, LOFT jeans, Minnetonka boots, Kate Spade earrings

Of the items I was fortunate enough to select from PinkBlush, this sweater is probably my favorite.  It’s warm enough to wear across the Winter season, breathable enough to wear into Fall and Spring, classic enough to wear to nicer date-night dinners, and the sequins add just enough pop to be festive for the holidays.  As I wore this for a more casual day running errands, I decided to tame down the more dressed-up look of the sequins with dark denim and ultra-casual boots.  Ultimately, this made a look that was not out of place in either the grocery store or the nicer sushi restaurant we visited in the center of town.

I encourage you to play with similar dynamics within your own wardrobe.  Dress down “fancy” pieces or dress up casual pieces to bring your full collection to the often-coveted center.  The conversation I regularly hear is that people don’t have items that can fit into any situation, but I would guess that your wardrobe may be more classic than you think.  Dressing a tee-shirt and jeans with heels and a bold statement necklace can seamlessly take you from day to night or from the dry cleaners to the country club.  Similar to a math equation, it’s all about pairing items together that bring the full look back to the middle.

What classic pieces in your wardrobe can you dress up or down this week that you might not have thought of previously?

12 8 15_2We took these pictures at the gorgeous City Hall in Inverness, Illinois.  While this is a small village, over the years, I’ve grown incredibly fond of the area.  No office buildings are allowed, with all offices being located in buildings that look like homes in a sub-division.  And even the city hall looks cozy, classic, and immaculate.  I can’t even imagine how beautiful this space looks trimmed with holiday decorations!

The towers on the building were actually shipped over from Scotland to be used as a part of this government building.
