Weekly Favorites: The Music Edition

I woke up thinking yesterday was Thursday all day, so I’m completely in Friday mode at this point.  I’ve had a multitude of songs rotating through my mind as I prep for a GNO with girlfriends from here and friends in town this evening, and I’m already prepping for the weekend ahead.

With that in mind, here are the songs I’m jamming out to at this moment.  Some are new, some are old, but all are catchy in their own right!

The brother/sister band Echosmith is slowly catching fire, and I fully support the cause.  This is the second of their three single releases, which began with last year’s hit “Cool Kids.”  They came out with their most recent single “Let’s Love” last month, and I don’t love it as much as the semi-melancholy/semi-hopeful sound of “Bright”, but expect to see them all over the place in the future.

When Del Amitri’s “Roll to Me” randomly came on the radio yesterday, I could hardly contain my excitement!  While this UK single only peaked at #10 when it was released in 1995, I still think it’s one of the catchiest tunes available.  Try to not dance along.  I dare you.

EL VY is a new project from Matt Berninger of “The National” fame.  While EL VY’s recent song is similar to his previous bands, I’ve fallen in love with the catchy, rhythmic beats that just put you in the zone.  This song will hit you right, no matter your current mood.  Plus, Matt is a Cincinnati-native, so I love them even more than I would otherwise. 😉

Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats are kind of a who’s who of the Denver music scene.  Every artist has been in multiple bands and is incredibly talented, but together, they are jaw-dropping amazing.  “S.O.B.” (above) is their first single and, now that they’ve received standing ovations on every evening show from Jimmy Fallon to Conan, I’m certain we’ll be seeing them everywhere shortly.
