Weekend Update: Jumping Back Into Hiking

This weekend was one for the record books – it was the first day I felt warm enough to head outside for a hike this season!  I’m kind of a baby when it comes to cold weather (thus the move from Chicago), so this was a monumental advance in the right direction.

Ray and I took a road trip to Boulder to check out the Chautauqua Park for a 2.5 hour hike.  We weren’t the old ones enjoying the outdoors.  It was PACKED when we got there!  Though the crowd thinned rather dramatically one we got a bit higher onto the mountain.

It’s always a challenge getting back into an activity that you love, but that you don’t have the opportunity to complete very often.  Now we’re back in a season where it will become regular practice again, but coming back after a Winter off is always kind of an adventure!  This time around, I could hardly land on my feet in rocky terrain.  I’m talking pebbles here, not mountain climbing.  Getting back into these activities always requires patience and endurance.  You got it, dude!

Lastly, yesterday I finished up a studio membership that I’ve had for some time at YogaPod.  While I’m still planning to take classes there, my unlimited membership will be out as I enjoy the sunshine and more cardio across the friendly season.  But don’t you worry your pretty little heads – I finished up a 21 classes in 30 days challenge before they can get rid of me!

Since I’ll be out a studio, I’m jumping in late to The Keen Peach’s 100 day workout challenge, where I’ll be focused on doing something active every day for 100 days (just over 3 months.)  Be sure to stop by my Weekly Workouts Page, where I’ll be regularly updating y’all on my workouts and progress with the challenge.  Wish me luck!
