Help Nepal

April 29 2015 Sathi Ghar, Kavre province, Nepal A 77-year-old woman picking through the debris to find a picture of her husband. He was killed in the earthquake. She says it was a blessing in disguise that this earthquake occurred during the day. Otherwise many more people would have died. Many villages near the mountainous epicenter of Nepalís devastating quake are almost completely demolished- with Kavre province among the worst hit. In the village called Sathi Ghar, of the 200 houses, almost no wall is left standing. It is thought eleven people died and many people were wounded. They need help badly but the hospital is too far for them to reach. It is not only homes and lives that have been lost, but livelihoods too. In the village cattle were killed and crops wiped out. The Red Cross has sent a team to assess the impact to make sure the community gets the supplies it needs. Food, water, tarpaulins, medicines and kit to start repairing their houses are top priorities. Photo by Merlijn Stoffels/IFRC

By now, we all know of the terrible earthquake that hit Nepal, as well as the aftershock that has again shaken the area.  With over 8 million people affected and over 3 million in need of food, now is our time to give.

If you’re able, I’d suggest a donation to the Red Cross where they are providing services such as first aid, search and rescue, and blood to the areas and individuals that need it most.  if you are unable or prefer not to give financially, then I’d suggest that you give a thought or prayer to the area and people affected.  Just remembering Nepal in their time of need is a perfect way to give.

With that said, I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend!
