Friday Favorites #5

I’ll be honest when I say that I’m fairly impressed that I’ve stuck with this series for five weeks, but I think a lot of that is due to the fact that it’s incredibly flexible.  In reading other Friday Favorites out there, I hope that what I receive from them is similar to what you feel when you read over here on SST.  It’s a personal connection so that we can connect on what we’re up to in our personal lives.  It’s fun and carefree, a relaxed way to ease into the weekend.  …And with that, here are some of the top things I’ve been loving this week:

A Gorgeous View

WU_7

It will likely come as no surprise that I struggle to sleep in late.  While I’m doing everything I can to stay on my usual Denver time zone, I’ve consistently been waking up with the sunrise.  Which meant that when I found this secret spot, I could not have been happier!  Here’s to waking up with sunshine and smiles.

Wind Turbines

WU_9

While there are many people that are smarter than I am arguing about whether or not “green energy” and wind turbines/solar panels are the energy of our future (I have literally zero to comment on that one), I do know that I find wind turbines to be absolutely stunning.  There’s a large field of them on the drive between Indianapolis and Chicago and I find the entire view to be incredibly calming.

Fuzzy’s 100th Indy 500 Commemorative Bottle

WU_8

Ray and I had mentioned to my cousin that we’d be interested in finding this bottle while we were in Indianapolis, and he and his wife surprised us by gifting it to us before we left after the weekend!  It’s definitely going to be one of the bottles we have on our bar cart that we won’t touch for a while, because this one is a beauty! (P.S. Please ignore the cord, as I had to charge my phone in order to take the picture in the first place.)

High School Class Ring

WU_10

While at my fathers house a week ago, I randomly spotted my high school class ring.  I regularly wear my college class ring, as there are no gems and the simple silver caters fairly closely to my usual look.  However, my high school class ring rarely makes an appearance, if at all!  I tossed it on and it fit like a glove, so much so that I decided to wear it for the next couple of weeks, primarily because I can’t think of a reason why I shouldn’t!  Cheers to you, high school class ring!

My First Head Stand

WU_11

Last week, I decided to try out a new yoga studio.  While the studio itself left a bit to be desired, our work time led to my first head stand!  Let’s just say that I’m not the most experienced when it comes to balance work in yoga – even Crow continues to elude me – so this accomplishment is incredibly exciting in my book.

LINKS I LOVE

Y’all know that I’m making my living on this blog (thank you for your support!!!) and freelance writing nowadays.  With this in mind, below are two examples of my work recently published online.  I continue to be humbled and grateful for the opportunities afforded to me thus far in this journey – and I can’t wait to see what’s to come!
